Spider Mite Retires!

Due to a number of reasons, the Venerable Spider Mite - Queen of the Crawlspace Inspection is being retired this month.

Today was a bittersweet day. I started the last Spider Mite Platform…

“I would typically spend an entire day making a Welded Steel Roll Cage, and a week just to assemble the Crawler Chassis”. Once I realized I had hundreds of screws and fasteners to “Loctite” I knew the end was near… Painstakingly greasing every gear and oiling each moving part with a needle oiler. I sensed she was too “High Maintenance” to sustain.

After 14 Years of service in Crawl Space Inspection, Building Inspection, Pipe Inspection, and the Pest Control Industries, the time has come to give this Veteran Industrial Inspection System an Honorable Discharge. The reason is simple: Economics; The Spider Mite, while a very capable and robust Inspection Robot, has become too expensive to manufacture. Along with very labor-intensive “Hand Made” manufacturing, the loss of availability of precision components has made it too prohibitive to continue.

That said, I have the Last Spider Mite available… If you are and Inspector or a Collector, You can’t go wrong with this beautiful example of Engineering and Design Aesthetic. Let me know you heard about it on the Blog, and I’ll give you a 10% Discount.
