ETH Zurich – SMB at Summer School
There is a University in Switzerland called ETH Zurich. The university called me and asked me to provide them with five Super Megabots. The idea was for their summer school program to use them as teaching platforms for the summer school students. We scrambled to put together five of our largest robots and I shipped them off to Switzerland.
The students designed and built navigation packages to attach to the Super Megabots. The program was designed to teach these bright, young minds several concepts including how to program, obstacle avoidance, way point navigation and autonomous navigation among others. The program gave students hands-on experience not only in a classroom but in the field with actual robots.
The summer school turned out to be very successful - the students loved it! Many students returned for the following year. Not only did the students learn engineering and robotics, but they also learned about community, communication, and team-building. You may not have heard of ETH Zurich, but it is a very prestigious school. In fact, one of its alumni is none other than Albert Einstein…
