Early Development- The Mega Hurtz

As the Mega Bot evolved, I had an idea to build a Military version for Non-Lethal Tactical Engagement. I would add a turret and armor to protect the electronics. This idea evolved into what I called the Mega Hurtz. I began by building a full-on roll cage extending the front and rear to accommodate more gear. I decided to build a fully enclosed armor shell from 1/8th in thick steel plate. The upper half would articulate on hinges with the aid of gas struts.

The upper canopy housed a powerful motor to rotate a turret. The turret contained a mil-sim paintball gun which could elevate and pan with a FPV video system. The Tippmann A5 was equipped with Q-loading and featured an elevation of +/- 25˚ with FPV Vision -allowing the user to sight down the barrel remotely. It included a laser sight and picatinny rails. The Idea was to load it with Rubber, Non-Lethal rounds or Pepper Balls for Law Enforcement and SWAT.

Once I had a working prototype, as usual, I made a video and posted it on You Tube. I caught the attention of Lockheed Martin and a colonel from a joint task force - USAF and Marines. The colonel flew out from Langley for a demo. After impressing him with a live fire demo, he just said: “whoever made that is a genius and I want two.”
